In the 19th century, a peculiar ritual emerged among East European Jews to stop the spread of an epidemic. Communities married off their marginalised members – orphans, beggars, those with disabilities – in a cemetery. Join Aviva and the JR team for a unique talk as we unpick this bizarre phenomenon with Professor Natan Meir, a scholar of Jewish social, cultural and religious history.
